Guilds And Permits of Bounty Hunter

Bounty hunters were mercenaries for hire who tracked down and captured or killed anyone with a price on their head, although they were also known for doing nearly anything for the right price including the protection of clients. The best bounty hunters were very well armed and had very effective weapons, making them even more dangerous. There were, however, plenty of incompetent specimens throughout the galaxy, lacking any real skill but wishing to get rich quickly or simply seeking adventure. Read More…

Sith Warrior Combat Tactics

Sith Warriors are described as “an unstoppable force of darkness”, a name they more than lived up to in their brutal conduct. The combat specialists of the Sith Empire, Warriors served as the champions of the battlefield, entrusted with the task of destroying the Empire’s enemies and enforcing Sith domination across the galaxy. Trained to rely on the emotions of fear, anger, and hatred to improve their connection to the dark side of the Force, channeling its power through their bodies and purging weakness from themselves. Your Questions About Bird Houses

David asks…

Hi Where can I find a bird like this ?

Hi,
I bought this bird house meant to be used as a decor item indoors. Where can I find a small imitation birds that look realistic, that I can place into the bird house? What are these called so I can ask at a local craft shop.

Please reply. I need to get this project out of the way soon.

waterdub answers:

They sell real-looking, fake birds at Michael’s Craft Store. I have bought them there before for crafts projects.

Robert asks…

Says in Leviticus 14 if you sprinkle bird blood 7 times you can rid the house of bunkus. Who wrote this stuff?

Verse 52 says it all. God came down and told those poor people to sprinkle bird blood seven times in their house, and make an awful mess; whereby they were supposed to rid their house of the pernicious plague — when likely their house didn’t even have the plague in the first place.

Who wrote this stuff?

Now try this: read the entire chapter, and try reading it with a straight face. Let me know how you do. Thanks.

Laura asks…

how many bluebird houses should i have per square 500 feet?

For my Eagle Scout project I am building birdhouses for the eastern blubird (ny’s state bird). I would like to know how many houses I am going to need to cover a park. The park is quite large so i just need to know how man y per 500 feet or any amount is fine.
Thanks

waterdub answers:

Hello farmer:

I’m not an expert, but I would think that 2 per acre is a good number. An acre is just slightly smaller than a football field (without the goal areas). If you are placing them in a dense forested area, you might go up to 4 per acre, but the birds need some separation for resources.

Keep on Scoutin’

Your Questions About Bird Houses

Maria asks…

Is it a good omen if house balcony, have a bird nest on the plant and 2 baby birds in it?

I’m intending to rent an apartment. During viewing, i noticed there’s a bird nest at balcony area. Only one plant in the balcony, had a bird nest handing on the plant. And there’s two baby birds in the nest. Is it a good sign for Chinese? Please advice, thank you.

waterdub answers:

My! My! Is it true?!?! I’m very interested now! My balcony is a maternity home for pigeons. There’s one female bird right now brooding for what looks like a fortnight but the eggs refuse to hatch…and I don’t have the heart to shoo her away! The father pays an occasional visit only, unlike in early days when he would puff up his chest at all visitors.

I don’t believe in omens, still if it portends good then *smiles*

Carol asks…

Found a lost baby bird. How do i take care of it?

I found a baby bird outside my house, He has got feathers and everything but can barely fly. I took him in under my own wing. I gave a him a box to live in. But how do i feed it, I don’t want this thing to die on ME! I want to train him and make a professional killer. But how do i take care of it. Its inside a box right now with leaves and grass and alittle ball to playwith. I gave him a bone but he won’t eat it.

Any ideas?

waterdub answers:

Well,If it’s a wild bird, you could still contact the wildlife rehabber to come and pick up the pigeons. This is the site

http://wildliferehabber.com/

If you want to keep it, do as the following:

Keep the baby warm (at least 80 degrees).

Keep the baby dry!

If the baby needs medical attention, please seek out a professional immediately!

Keep the baby in a quiet, safe place — away from noise, curious humans, cats, dogs, trumpet players, etc.

You must get food and water into the baby: if she is too young to eat by herself, you will need to feed her by hand. Go to the pet store and buy some baby bird formula, such as Kaytee Exact or LaFeber Nutri-Strart. Also buy a feeding syringe (no needles, just a feeding syringe).

Follow the directions provided with the formula. You will be mixing formula with warm water (not hot, just lukewarm!). Fill the syringe with formula; make sure it’s not too thick or you won’t be able to push it through. Carefully open the little squeaker’s beak. Insert the syringe carefully into her mouth and squeeze a little bit at a time. It will take you a good twenty to thirty minutes probably, and the squeaker needs feeding at least five times a day. Therefore, you will have to make a big commitment or you will need to find someone else who will. Babies must be fed! Don’t let her starve to death. Experienced bird feeders can crop feed a pigeon (feed directly into the crop), but if you haven’t done this before, please don’t try it: you can kill the bird if you let liquid go into her lungs. You might also choke her with the tube. Just be patient and feed her by mouth. Soon she’ll learn that you are the food provider and she’ll start calling you Mom.

Feed your bird every day, even after she begins eating seed by herself. When she first starts showing an interest in picking up seed, she’ll need at least one more week of handfeeding to be sure she’s getting enough nutrition. It takes a while for a baby to learn how to eat and drink, so be patient.

About 45 days after birth, a pigeon can fly. Please do not release her until you are sure she can fly well and defend herself. If you release her, bring her back to where you found her or to a safe area nearby, preferably where there are other pigeons.

If you rescued her at a very young age and feel that she should not be released into the wild, or if any other injury/condition exists that makes her unreleasable, then you should provide her with a good home. That means she should have room to fly and always have dry, fresh food and clean water. Pigeons make lovely pets: they are smart, affectionate, beautiful, and fascinating. If you’ve rescued a baby that you decide to keep, I believe you will find great joy in befriending her. I keep the ones that cannot safely be released, and they have their own bedroom and access to a large screened-in porch.

WARMTH AND BEDDING

If the baby is not completely feathered, it needs to be kept warm. You may use a heating pad on low heat. However, cover the pad with a towel.

Some approximate temperature ranges are:

* Unfeathered chicks 90 degrees
*Chicks with some pin feathers 85 degrees
*fully feathered chick 75 degrees

Place the baby bird into a small container such as margarined tub lined with crumpled towels. It cannot get any traction on a smooth surface, and the legs sliding out from under it will cause spraddle leg. Then put the container with the baby in a box and set it on th heating pad. If the baby has no feathers, you may need to cover the box with another towel to help hold the heat in.

William asks…

What other type of bird can CANARIES be housed with?

I have a male and female canary right now in a cage, I recently bought a 8ft tall by 8 ft wide aviary to house them in and give them way more room to fly in. The aviary is too big to house just 2 canaries. I would like to get some other birds to put in with my canaries. Will other types of finches work, I would like to get a pair of doves, What do you think? Also the aviary is inside the house. Thanxs

waterdub answers:

Canaries are passive birds so they can be put with any birds so long as the OTHER birds don’t attack it. Sometimes you have to look at the bird’s tempermant. Some ‘passive breeds of birds’ will simply attack anything. I’ve put my pair of cans with a pair of weiros, quails and some budgies. The weiros got attacked by the budgies even though it’s 3 times it’s size.

Finches should be ok. Doves, i don’t know. Try putting them together but watch what happens.

If you are planning to breed your cans, it’s best to put them in a seperate cage as they can be shy animals. And put a small wooden box with a hole with straws inside the cage so it can nest.

Please ensure that other animals like cats, dogs and rats can’t enter or paw the cage down. I learnt my lesson the hard way.

I found a bird egg what should I do?

Betty asks…

what food can i use to attract a bird loose in my house?

there is a bird loose in my basement. a small, grayish-brown bird you’d find outside. we’ve tried to catch it, but it flies too fast. we have a safe, humane trap and we dont know what food to put in it to attract the bird. does anyone know?

waterdub answers:

Have you tried turning off the lights and opening the window or the door to the rest of the house? Once it is in the house..do the same thing..and it should go to the light and find it’s way out. If this does not work..get a net and capture it this way and return it outside..much easier than trying to trap it…it will die of starvation by then.

How do I seal bird holes in my house’s walls?

Linda asks…

How much should I charge for a one week House sitting with 2 dogs 1 cat and a bird?

It is a very old golden retriever and a young chiwawa. A older indoor house cat, short hair and im not sure what kind of bird, but it is in its cadge from what i understand. I will be staying in the house overnight and im in a wealthier area of florida. I will be in school for 7-2 but after that im expected to stay put at the home unless i need food or other.. What would be a good ballpark range?

waterdub answers:

I would say about $500.00. It sounds like a lot, but unless they want to get a neighbor to do it for them or something, they need to be prepared to pay a hefty amount. I was paid $250.00 for a 2 week job for only 1 cat. A 1 week job for 4 animals for $500.00 sounds like a decent deal for both them and yourself.
Also – keep in mind, you are *staying* with the animals overnight. Most of the time, people just pop in, feed them, stay for an hour, then leave.

James asks…

What kind of pest do we have in our kitchen…it looks like bird droppings?

We haven’t seen or heard any birds in the house and we only found the fecal matter int he kitchen. It is white and runny with a little black in the center. Could it be anything else besides a bird? We live in boston area.

waterdub answers:

I live in Boston too and I’ve seen that kind of dropping in a friend’s home who had mice. I was under the impression mouse droppings were all black but I learned they can take on other appearances too depending on the rodent’s diet.

George asks…

how to make a bird house ?

I need to make a bird house for some wrens, is there anything I need to know first ?

Joseph asks…

Why did my 8 month old male kitten bring a bird in the house today?

He brought a young wild bird into the kitchen.

waterdub answers:

My cat’s do that from time to time also, its rather unnerving isnt it?! Haha
Well Cat’s do this as a way of bringing a trophy home to its owner, trying to win perhaps affection or just to show that it is capable. It’s pretty normal for Cat’s to do so.

What can a bird cage be used for- other than housing a bird?

Laura asks…

We have found a baby bird in our house today. It looks like it might be a baby quail. What can i feed tonight?

Before I call the wildlife rangers tomorrow?

waterdub answers:

Try soaking some dog food kibble (dry) in water and then put it into a syringe and press slowly as you feed. Baby birds always make a lot of noise when they’re being fed so it’s important that you don’t let their sounds rush you. When quail are on the ground they eat all manner of seeds they can find. When feeding any bird you must pay attn. To their gullet. That’s the bags (for lack of better description) just at the top of their breast, slightly below their beak. If and when the bird turns away from the food, call it good for a couple hours. Don’t forget that mommy and daddy have to hunt for quite a while before they collect enough food to feed their young.

Donald asks…

My little sister found a baby bird and took it inside the house. Will the mama bird reject the baby?

**Snopes says that birds typically can’t smell human scent. But the problem is, when my sister went outside, the mama bird was frantically looking for the baby and I’m guessing she saw my sister with the baby bird. Will she reject the bird? Also, how to care for a baby bird?

waterdub answers:

The mother will reject the baby bird so might as well take care of it, right? Well put it in a soft place under a heat lamp. You could feed it seeds, if it doesn’t eat it try mushed up bread soaked in a little water. Also, if it doesn’t eat that try to give it whisked egg yokes. Good Luck!!! ;)

Your Questions About Bird Houses

Charles asks…

What bird makes a creaking door sound?

I’m in Ireland. Theres a bird outside my house that’s quite loud in the mornings. The other morning it woke me at 6am. It sounds like a creaking door. Kind of an eeek, eeek, eeek sound. It’s quite uniform. I’ve checked on the web and the closest sound I can find is the ‘common grackle’ but it’s a North American bird.

Any idea what kind of bird it is? We live in an urban area, quite close to a river/swamp.

waterdub answers:

Ah – close to a swamp, eh? Try Common Moorhen.

Hey, cool! You get Bee-eaters in Ireland?! I didn’t know that. I really must visit that land of (some of ) my ancestors sometime.

Michael asks…

What homemade toys are safe for a bird? Or things around the house are safe for a bird to play with?

I have a parakeet and a lovebird. My parakeet doesn’t really like to play with anything but the expensive bell toys, but my lovebird will play with anything. My parakeet does love to chew on my baskets which I hate. Is there anything close to a basket that he will like that he can chew on? He doesn’t like bird chew toys.

waterdub answers:

Bell toys don’t have to be expensive. You can buy bells in bulk from places like http://www.parrotdiseperch.com and you can pick up your own materials to make your own toys from typical craft stores. You can also get some cheap baskets to divert your budgie’s attention to those. Birds like to be able to chew something somewhat challenging, like tough cardboards (lovebirds especially), so you can tear apart any box to get those. Just be aware so you don’t end up giving your birds glues, adhesives, or tape residue that could be toxic. Also, toilet paper rolls use an adhesive to stick the paper to it that could be damaging to birds, so avoid using those.

Again, craft stores are great. They carry a wealth of neat materials; beads, hemp, rope, squishy shapes, sometimes bells, doll heads, candle covers, etc. If you can find a way to make them forage for treats, it keeps them busy and is rewarding. I like using candle covers, stringing some hemp through it so it hangs in the cage (along with some beads, straws, and squishy shapes), hiding a piece of millet or maybe a Lafeber Nutriberry inside, then covering it with another squishy shape and let my birds go hunting.

Sometimes, also, since he likes bells, you could pick up some cheap cat balls without any catnip. You can usually buy them in fours for a dollar or something, and let him play with those under supervision.

Chris asks…

what do i do about a dead bird?

I found a dead bird (Robin) outside my house. Am I suppose to call it in to somoene? I live in Arkansas if that helps anything. Thanks.
I’m talking about for west nile or bird flu reasons when I ask if I report it.

waterdub answers:

It depends on how you think it died, if it flew into the window then put it in the garbage can. If it just died and fell out of a tree then it may have a disease like West Nile, or Bird Flu. In that case call you local animal control center or if you want to take care of it then you have to burn it so it the disease will be contained.

Donald asks…

What shall i do, theres a injured bird outside my house house?

does anyone know what i can do

waterdub answers:

You should take it to the vet. If it’s just a minor injury they’ll tell you to take it home and keep in warm and fed until it’s strong enough to fly again. Problem with birds is that they’re so fragile and if it’s seriously injured most vets will put them to sleep.

Sandra asks…

what can you use at home to make a bird house?

for all kinds of birds

waterdub answers:

You can make bird houses from empty milk cartons or plastic jugs. Just cut a hole in the side big enough for the birds to fly in and out. You can also use empty plastic jugs to make bird feeders.

Betty asks…

Should we take care of the baby bird?

Outside of our house, baby birds have just hatched a few days ago. One of the birds climbed out of the nests and is at the bottom. He can’t get back into the nest. We’re scared that the mom won’t see him and come down to feed him. Should we take him in and feed him for ourselves?
Will the mom come down to feed him?

waterdub answers:

Does this bird look fully feathered? Or does it at least have most of it’s feathers? Then this bird is a fledgling that has left the nest on it’s own.

Fledglings are suppose to stay on the ground. Their parents still care for them, as they prepare for flight. I would suggest moving this bird under a near by shrub, so it won’t be visable to predators.

If this bird is unfeathered, you need to put it back in the nest. Don’t worry about your scent being on the bird, since 99.9% of birds very poor sense of smell. Also it’s illegal to take care of wild birds, and it could get you fined or jailed if you took this bird in. Thank you.

Ken asks…

A pet bird got into my house what to do?

One of those little green birds that people usually have as pets somehow got into my house. Its kind of chubby and it cant even fly. I have it some bread just incase it was hungry but what can I do with it now?

waterdub answers:

In my opinion, it is hard to find its owner. I would suggest you keep it of you would like to and care for it. It is defenseless in the wild.

Nancy asks…

What if a baby Robin Bird fell out of its nest?

A baby Robin Bird fell out of its nest. What would happen? Would its mother help it back into the nest? Still care for it? This happend to a baby bird at my house, the nest is located up kinda by my roof, and a baby fell out. and its hiding in the bushes. And as weird as this sounds, I really fear for it.

waterdub answers:

For most songbirds, there is a good rule of thumb: the rule of the thumb! By that I mean, can the bird sit up on your thumb (or finger) on its own? If it can, then it is a FLEDGLING and should be left alone! Nestling songbirds cannot balance on their own or grip a perch until right at fledging. If the bird can balance ok, then it is SUPPOSED to be out of the nest. It may not look like it, but it is. It will have some feathers over much (but not all) of its body, and the wing and sometimes the head feathers will be sticking out of little tubes (the feather sheathes). It might still have tufts of down on its head or on other parts of the body.

So, if it seems ok, not injured, just unable to fly, and it can perch on its own, you should PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT. Even if the parents weren’t right there yelling at you, chances are that they know where the baby was and were doing all they could to take care of it. Don’t worry about them abandoning it because you touched it; birds don’t do that. (They might, however, abandon nests if you get too close, especially if they have eggs and not nestlings.) Just get it back to where they can find it and where it will be safe. Don’t put it in an enclosed area that the parents will be afraid to go into. Get it somewhere it can eventually move off on its own

Will the mother bird come back?

Theres this nest inside a bird house that i built. I used to see the mother bird every day but now i never see her. There a 3 baby bluebirds in the nest and when i look in the nest, they all open their mouths like they are going to be fed.

P.S. I haven’t touched the nest or the bird house.

waterdub answers:

It is very likely that she could have been injured or killed or that something/one else touched the babies. I would call your local widlife resource center, although I don’t how they handle small animals.

-once i saw a hurt baby bird on the sidwalk. It had feathers but couldn’t fly and was making so much noise. I felt so bad adn called the wildlife center but they said they couldn’t do anythign cause it was a such a small, common animal. This could have just been for my area, so I would still give it a try.

easy ways to make bird feeding contraption?

ie anytips to make something to put some nuts ect,in to put in garden for the birds as i havent got a proper bird house?cheers

waterdub answers:

I give chicken scratch feed and wild bird seed mix spread on my driveway. We have bears here that destroy bird feeders. I give them only what they will eat in a day as leftovers will attract rodents. You could also put a two foot by two foot piece of plywood on a short post and feed birds on it. It is easy for them to choose what they like.

Robert asks…

I have a lost wild bird in my house trying to take care of it?

my wild bird is a baby i feed her food that i know that its ok for her to eat but her poop is turning light green is that bad?!

please help!

waterdub answers:

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it’s own and it’s parents are caring for it. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered…then look for a nest and if you can find it…replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it’s best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own. Look up a rehab here if you need one:
